The Mozambique eVisa is a full electronic visa covering multiple travel purposes with stays up to 90 days, while the ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) is a streamlined travel authorisation limited to tourism or business for a maximum of 30 days. Both are managed by the Mozambique National Immigration Service (SENAMI) and applied for through the evisa.gov.mz portal. UK nationals need an ETA for stays up to 30 days; longer visits or non-tourist purposes require a Mozambique eVisa. The eVisa covers seven categories – tourist, business, crew, sports and culture, humanitarian, investment, and oil and gas – while the ETA is restricted to tourist or business trips of 30 days or fewer. Both arrive as a PDF via email.
What Is the Mozambique eVisa vs ETA?
The Mozambique eVisa is a multi-category electronic visa valid for up to 90 days, whereas the Mozambique ETA is a simplified travel authorisation capped at 30 days for tourism or business only. Both are managed by SENAMI via evisa.gov.mz; the eVisa offers seven categories, while the Mozambique ETA is limited to tourist/business up to 30 days.

Health Requirements – Yellow Fever Certificate
A yellow fever vaccination certificate is mandatory for arrivals from yellow-fever-endemic countries. It is not required for arrivals from the UK. Malaria prophylaxis is strongly recommended but not legally required.
Stay Extensions and Overstay Rules
ETA holders can request an extension at a SENAMI office in Maputo, Vilankulo, or Beira; processing takes 2-5 days, fee approximately $20-30. Overstaying incurs a fine of approximately $20 per day, plus risk of deportation and future visa bans. Any paid or unpaid employment on a tourist Mozambique eVisa or ETA is an offence under Mozambican immigration law.
